Rose Bowl Winning Coach Rick Neuheisel Joins SiriusXM

Rose Bowl Winning Coach Rick Neuheisel Joins SiriusXM

Former UCLA, Washington and Colorado coach to host on SiriusXM College Sports Nation, channel 91

NEW YORK – May 31, 2012 – Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ: SIRI) today announced that former college football coach Rick Neuheisel, who won the Rose Bowl as both a coach and a player, has joined SiriusXM as an analyst on its 24/7 college sports channel.

Neuheisel will host multiple shows each week on SiriusXM College Sports Nation, channel 91.  He’ll make his debut Monday, June 4, on SiriusXM’s College Football Playbook (weekdays, 12:00 – 3:00 pm ET) with Jack Arute.  He can also be heard hosting SiriusXM’s College Sports Today (weekdays, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm ET) with Mark Packer.

“As a coach and a player, I’ve experienced just about everything this game can throw at you and I’m excited to join the team at SiriusXM and share what I’ve learned with the fans,” said Neuheisel.  “For those who love college football, the SiriusXM College Sports Nation channel is an excellent resource, and we’ve got a lot to talk about in the coming months – from the proposed BCS playoffs to the teams and players that will stand out this season.”

In his 12 years as a college head coach, with UCLA (2008-11), Washington (1999-2002) and Colorado (1995-98), Neuheisel led his teams to eight bowl game appearances.  He was named head coach at Colorado at the age of 34 and in his first two seasons with the Buffaloes coached the team to consecutive 10-2 records, top ten rankings in the Associated Press poll, and victories in the Cotton Bowl (’95) and Holiday Bowl (’96).  As head coach at Washington Neuheisel led the team to four consecutive winning records, highlighted by the 2000 season, when the Huskies went 11-1, won the Pac-10 title and the Rose Bowl, and finished ranked #3 nationally.

When UCLA hired Neuheisel before the 2008 season it was a homecoming for the coach, who played quarterback for the Bruins from 1980 to 1983.  Neuheisel began his collegiate playing career as a walk-on and worked his way into the starting role for his senior year.  That season, the Bruins won the Pac-10 Championship before going on to the Rose Bowl, where Neuheisel led the team to a convincing 45-9 victory over heavily-favored Illinois and was named the game’s MVP.

Neuheisel also spent three seasons as an assistant coach for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, serving as quarterbacks coach in 2005 and 2006 and as offensive coordinator for the 2007 season.
